Mar 6 2009    |    New layout
new-layout
 Ariana

So, Drifting Fire Leaves has a new layout. It’s actually been up for a few days already. I quickly go bored with the old one… and this design is something I developed last summer when I opened DFL on it’s own domain for the first time.
I’m still working on the sections of the site. The fan-arts section and the scripts section are completely ready, although there are actually no scripts ready yet. I’m still working on the design section and the photos, obsessions and site sections will be finished this weekend.
Then I have to get some affiliates and advertise my site a little, what exactly would be the point in having a site if no one will see it?

Feb 12 2009    |    Dark Frontier, the Voyager episode I didn’t see
dark-frontier-the-voyager-episode-i-didnt-see

Until yesterday that is… I was so surprised. It’s a season five double episode, and I’d never seen it. It’s happened before that I begin watching and I’m like “What episode is that?” and then after a little while, I realize that I’ve seen it before. But not this one. It was really just a coincidence that I realized it, I was writing a short biography for Tom Paris for a Voyager fan-site I’m making and on Memory Alpha (the Star Trek Wiki) it said that Tom was involved in rescuing Seven of Nine from the Borg queen who had been captured while they were trying to steal a transwarp coil from a borg sphere.
And I just sat there and thought “Are they sure that’s from Voyager? I’ve never seen that episode… Or am I just crazy and I don’t remember it?” Well it turned out that I hadn’t seen it… which is weird ’cause I’ve seen the rest of season five at least twice…
Understandably I was really happy :P

Feb 6 2009    |    The internet is so cool!

I’m telling you, the internet is the coolest place in the world. You can find almost anything on the internet, information, fiction, love, friends, even money. The coolest thing though is the awesome technology that has been invented to make websites look nice.
Like Wordpress, for example, or Coppermine. Those are some of the coolest scripts I have ever tried, I understand a lot of the source code, but they are so cool that I can’t even begin to say that I understand half of it. They use several scripting languages, most notable is php which is amazing. You can make php do almost anything for you, and with a little help from nifty things like javascript, html(of course, without html there wouldn’t be any websites), css you can make it look extremely nice too.
I was installing a photogallery plugin on my Wordpress install. It took me a while to figure out how it worked, because I am so used to working with Coppermine, the structure is slightly different. And I was breath taken by the awesomeness of this plugin once I figured it out. I can make it display my pics any way I want, anywhere I want and I can make it look extremely cool while I’m at it. I can make the thumbnails look like they are pinned to a wall, or like they are really old and washed out, without having to make each thumbnail manually in Photoshop, without ever even changing the image files themselves.

As you can see if you are not reading this on facebook, the layout is ready (except for the footer part, I’m still working on that) but the content is lacking entirely. That will all happen gradually, so just be patient.
Once the content is ready, I’ll add some affiliates and I’ve been thinking about opening a design section, so people can order free layouts from me :)
Until next time,
All my love,
Ariana

Welcome to the fourth version of Drifting Fire Leaves, my personal/fan-arts/collective site. This is just my own private place on the web and I can’t promise that I’ll update very often, but I’ll do my best to try.  The site is not ready yet, there are still a lot of things that I have to do, make the new layout, add content, make a photogallery and stuff, but in time it’ll be your number one source for all things Ariana Janeway (aka Sunnefa but I won’t use that name here).

Until then,
All my love,
Ariana!
